CHARLO — It was a night full of laughter, their version of celebrity appearances and cake March 15 as Charlo High School students presented “Saturday Night Live” in the Charlo gym. Around 200 community members packed the house to watch the high school students pull off the funny renditions of “SNL” skits.

Students playing Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift hosted the play, which was modeled after the popular sketch television show.

The play featured skits like the “Chris Farley Show” with Will Ferrell, “Wheel of Fortune” with the Cone heads, and a musical production by Kenney Chesney and Taylor Swift. The fun night also displayed the Charlo Middle School dance team.

We’ve been working on it casually for three weeks, with two run-throughs,” director Keith Grebetz said. “Our kids usually pull out a good show.”

Special performances like this are a treat for Charlo residents, Grebetz said.

“The Charlo community loves it,” he said. “They appreciate the kids being on stage and having a blast.”

Those who attended the play could pay $3 for a bleacher seat with the option to purchase a dessert treat, and for $5, community members could sit at a table and be served beverages and dessert during intermission by seniors. Proceeds raised go towards the Charlo class of 2014’s senior trip.
