Mission hosts season opening volleyball tourney

ST. IGNATIUS – The Lady Bulldogs’ court was abuzz on Saturday as they hosted a class B volleyball tournament. Teams from Eureka, Plains, Thompson Falls, Troy, Bigfork, and Deer Lodge, as well as Ronan and Mission, sparred it out at the net.
Though the Maidens came out on top out of the pool play logging 122 points, they fell to Deer Lodge 17-20, 14-20 in the first round of tourney play.
Mission came out of the pool play round with 91 points, also falling in the first round to Bigfork 20-18, 7-20.
Mission and Ronan will meet up on the Maidens court Sept. 4 while both teams play again later in the week with Ronan hosting Eureka Sept. 6 and Mission hosting Eureka Sept. 9.
Results
Bigfork def. Mission 18-20, 20-7.
Deer Lodge def. Ronan 20-17, 20-14.
