Children, elders celebrate 35th annual Head Start Powwow

RONAN — Children from all over the Flathead Reservation enjoyed the 35th Head Start Powwow on Friday.
The little tykes started showing up at the Ronan Events Center at 4 p.m. and watched the grand entry led by the Veteran’s Warrior Society proceed at 4:30 p.m.
Head Start children from Arlee to Polson and their parents enjoyed the powwow and mingled with friends and family. Some were dressed in full regalia and learned to dance with the elders. Multiple drum groups played including the Chief Cliff Singers, Yamncut and Nkwusm drum group.
A hearty dinner of Indian tacos was served at 5:30 p.m., and festivities ended at 7 p.m.
