HOT SPRINGS — The Scarlets and Warrior excelled on the small stage at the Dave Tripp Memorial Track Meet in Hot Springs Thursday.

The Scarlets scored 67 points to finish in third place and the Warriors scored 62 points to finish in fourth place – the highest placing for both of them this season.

Zack Carver, a sophomore, was the only Arlee champion in Hot Springs. Running on a dirt track, Carver ran his best 100-meter dash of the season, finishing in 11.78 seconds and right in front of a tough Horseman competitor, Dillon Fryxell.

“I knew he (Carver) was pretty good. I knew he was pretty quick. The big thing for me was him beating Dillon,” Arlee coach Russell Baker said.

Scarlet sophomore Becca Nelson, the only Arlee athlete to place at the Seeley-Swan Invitational Saturday with a sixth-place finish in the javelin, placed in four events in Hot Springs.

Nelson, who Russell calls a “little ball of muscle,” placed second in the high jump (4-6) and discus (93-8) and third in the javelin (108-4) and shot put (25-11). Nelson’s throw in the javelin was her farthest throw this season.

The Scarlets had at least two placers in each of the throwing events. Aspen Meidinger finished second in the shot put with a throw of 27 feet, 3 inches and fifth in the discus with a throw of 75 feet, 11 inches.

Rachelle Meidinger placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 25 feet, 10 inches – Rachelle threw nearly three inches farther than that for a personal best at the Seeley-Swan Invite.

Chelsea Allaire finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 88 feet, 9 inches. The senior also placed third in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the long jump. Allaire improved in both the events Saturday, finishing the 100 hurdles around 18 seconds and jumping 14 feet, 5 inches, but didn’t place.

Competing in the triple jump for the first time this season, Jenna Pablo jumped 28 feet, 6.5 inches to finish in fourth place. Pablo also placed fourth in the high jump. Scarlet freshman Skyla Perry placed sixth in the 100-meter dash.

Clayton Trimble placed fourth in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.88 seconds.

“He (Trimble) has to get out of the blocks quicker ... Once he gets going he’s pretty fast,” Baker said.

Trimble, Carver, Cole Rice and Zach Tameler finished in second place in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 4:02.65. Tameler also finished in sixth place in the 400-meter run and fifth in the triple jump.

Dylan Moran finished in second place in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.58 seconds. Lane Wilson finished sixth in the 300 hurdles and third in the 110 hurdles.

Competing in his first meet this season, Warrior senior Trevor Rubel placed sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:36.75. Rubel finished right behind teammate Rice, who placed fifth with a time of 2:34.41.

Arlee will hold the second annual Brian Bachmeier Memorial Track and Field Meet Thursday at 2 p.m.
