Robert Lloyd Resner

RONAN — Robert Lloyd Resner, born Aug. 31, 1924, passed away March 27, 2010.

He will always be remembered as a faithful servant of the Lord and genuinely loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He gave everything and expected nothing in return. He illuminated a room with his joyful presence and resounding voice. Robert touched so many lives through his sincerity, optimism, and patience.

He was born in Ronan, Mont., and passed away in Santee, Calif., at the age of 85. He was raised in Ronan by his father, Harold Resner, who worked at Ronan State Bank; and by his mother, Pearl Resner, who owned and operated the Gaiety Theater (now Entertainer). Robert’s grandfather, Dr. Andrew Carl Resner, practiced medicine starting in 1913 for 25 years in Ronan.

Robert graduated from Ronan High School; attended and graduated from the MSU in Bozeman, Mont.; enlisted in the army and was stationed in the Philippines during World War II. After the war, he moved to San Diego to work for his father; who had relocated and started a business, Resner Hardware. He later purchased the business from his father and operated it until 1968.

Although he was successful in his business endeavors, he considered his greatest accomplishments to be a leader/elder in his church and patriarch of his family. He truly enjoyed time with his family, especially playing games with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. One of his greatest passions in life was flying his Moonie airplane to many destinations.

Robert is survived by his wife, Niva; two stepsons Dan (Linda) Lockwood and David (Coral) Lockwood; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a faithful servant of the Lord who will be missed for his warm smile and giving heart. Those who knew Robert were blessed by his continual display of God’s abounding love.
