Charlo falls to Superior, 3-1 By Mike Moore/Valley Journal CHARLO – The Charlo Lady Vikings (7-1) were handed their first loss of the season as they battled against Superior in a match of unbeaten teams. The Lady Vikings picked up the first win, 25-12, but then dropped the following three games, 25-11, 25-23, 25-16 to remain unbeaten. With the loss, Charlo fell to 7-1 overall, and 4-1 in conference play.
Charlo head coach Sheryl Kain said her girls began the match on fire, but finished slow as Superior found weaknesses in Charlo’s defense.
“We came out strong but didn’t keep it up,” Kain said. “Superior found our weak spots and capitalized on them.”
Kinley Pope finished the match with eight kills and two aces for the Lady Vikings. Dawn Blevins added four blocks and two aces. Deondra Brown continued to play well, adding eight kills. Kelsie Blevins added 19 digs to lead Charlo.
As a team, Charlo had 28 kills, 70 digs, 23 assists, six blocks and six aces.
“We should’ve had the third game, but our own errors both in serving and hitting killed us,” Kain said.
The Lady Vikings host St. Regis Sept. 27 at home.
