SWAN LAKE — Officers with Fish, Wildlife and Parks and Department of Natural Resources and Conservation are asking for help in finding the individuals responsible for $6,000 in damage to State property on the Swan State Forest.
On Saturday, Sept. 13 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., individuals unbolted and removed two, 4-foot square aluminum signs depicting the photos and differences in grizzly and black bears. It is also believed that the same individuals damaged three gates by attempting to pull them out with a vehicle. All of this took place in broad daylight and in public view. This theft and vandalism occurred on the loop road starting on Goat Creek across from the DNRC headquarters on Highway 83, and along forest roads to Napa Lookout and the Cilly Creek road. Anyone with information on the case please call 1-800-TIP-MONT (800-847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and a reward may be available.
