POLSON — During an update on the construction at Polson High School at the Oct. 13 board meeting, Superintendent Linda Reksten reported the exterior doors and replacement windows will be installed the week of Oct. 20-24. Insulating window shades will be installed Oct. 16 and 17.

The district used grant money to replace stage curtains in the auditorium. District funds, as opposed to project funds, will pay for painting the girls locker room and partially subsidize landscaping and a retaining wall.

Plexiglas gym windows are on order, and the front entrance gutter, carpet inside and pricing for a service platform on the roof are still in the works.

Some items on the PHS roof did not pass inspection, and Progressive Roofing will be on site to fix it, Reksten said.

Trustees voted to press onward with the softball field lighting project.

According to District Clerk Pam Owen, Jackola Engineering approved the plan, and it’s ready to go.

PHS Vice Principal Scott Wilson said the volunteers were just waiting for the board to okay the project, and now they will begin work. They will sign a volunteer sign-up sheet so the district’s liability and worker’s compensation are in effect while they work.

In other business, the board discussed attendance monitoring and didn’t care for the middle school’s system.

Board Chair John Triolo said, “I’m asking for an attendance system that shows the percent of students that are attending daily.”

The other board members agreed, and Carl Elliott, district director of support services information technology and human resources and technology, said that was possible, and he will make it happen for the next meeting.

Superintendent Reksten announced a quality schools/facility master plan meeting Oct. 23.

to continue work on a master plan for the district. The plan would go to the community for comments.

The next school board meeting will be Nov. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the district office conference room.
