HOT SPRINGS — Perry Walter Bowerman, 84, passed away at his home on Oct. 21, 2014, after a 9-year battle with prostate cancer. His wife Vera, of 57 years, and family, surrounded him.
Perry was the first child of Walter Bowerman and Sylvia Baxter Bowerman. He was born April 18, 1930, in Hot Springs where he lived and attended Hot Springs schools. He graduated from high school in 1950 and then joined the Air Force, spending four years in the Strategic Air Command as a Cryptologist. Perry worked at various jobs after his discharge from the Air Force.
In June of 1957 Perry married the love of his life, Vera Keene, in Bellingham, Wash. After 13 years they relocated to Boulder, Mont., where Perry was hired at Montana Developmental Center, working with mentally handicapped patients. Perry was a bus driver/maintenance man. He retired from Montana Developmental Center after 20 years of service.
Perry and his wife, Vera, spent many happy hours and miles enjoying the United States on their motorcycle and in their motor home. Their home base was Hot Springs.
After retirement, Perry’s main project and challenge was restoring his family home. He spent many happy hours restoring the home. The end result as “master carpenter” was a beautiful little home for Perry and Vera.
Perry was a kind, gentle man who loved his family, people, animals and Montana. He will be greatly missed.
Perry dedicated his life to Jehovah God and was a Jehovah’s Witnesses. He loved to share the Bible’s message and his hope of living forever on Paradise Earth when the fulfillment of “The Lord’s Prayer” is realized.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sylvia Bowerman. He is survived by his wife Vera; his brother Lyle Bowerman of Polson; nieces Rhonda Bowerman of Hot Springs, Christie (Craig) Morigeau of Polson and Carlene (Jay) Grant of Butte; several great nieces and nephews and one great great-niece; Aunt Lila Baxter of Polson; and several cousins.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at the Lonepine Hall in Lonepine, Mont., with Doug Duffield officiating. A potluck will follow.
Perry and his family wish to thank Dr. Thomas and staff of Montana Cancer Center in Missoula, Hospice of Plains, Sanders County Cancer Support Group and all the loving people who supported Perry and his wife in the nine-year fight against cancer.
