There's money in the ditches

Editor,
Again, we spent a few hours picking trash along Highway 93. And for the first time were blessed and surprised to find dollars. Not just $1, but $10, then $20, then another $20.
It doesn't take long to pick trash when there is a reward along the way. Maybe more people would help keep the highways clean if there was money to be found amidst the papers and cans.
What amazes me is that one can fill an entire bag for each reflector post along the road. We picked trash last year, so how can so much more accumulate from one fall to the next spring? Were the March winds blowing the papers, the plastic bags from your house to the road? Or just from the back of your pickup?
And a thank you to all those who slow down as they pass us, or honk and wave their appreciation.
The challenge is still on: Let's get the highways and byways cleaned as soon as possible. Let's keep the sidewalks, the alleys, and the streets clean in our towns.
And when we drive to the garbage dump, let's be sure to tarp that load.
