POLSON — Christmas is a time for families, for sharing, for giving, but sometimes it’s a wrenching season for people grieving the loss of a loved one.
To remember loved ones who have passed away, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center and Lake Funeral Home are partnering on a Tree of Light candle lighting ceremony to be held in St. Joe’s lobby on Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.
The Reverend John Payne will lead the event.
“It’s a longtime hospice kind of thing. It has a huge history with hospice, a way of allowing people to remember those who have gone before them,” said Susan Breining, hospice nurse.
People may put their loved one’s name on a dove and put it on the tree, Breining said. She added that the loss of a loved one didn’t have to just happened within the past year; it’s a way to remember all losses.
The public is invited, and there will be a short reception afterwards.
