ARLEE – The Scarlets kicked off the season with a strong start, pulling a split but not without a fight in their home tip-off tourney.

In their opening game on the court Friday, the Scarlets kept it close but tumbled in the end against Seeley-Swan’s Lady Blackhawks, 43-49.

Despite the narrow loss, Scarlet Bryndle Goyins led her team at the net with 20 points.

Saturday the Scarlets came back hungry, easily squashing Drummond 42-24 while high scoring in three of the four quarters.

In yet another power performance, Goyins scored 22 for the Scarlets while Violet Pablo chipped in 10.

The Scarlets will hit the road to Superior Dec. 19 and then on to Hot Springs Dec. 20.
