MISSOULA – The Lady Pirates toughed out a close-but-no-prize opening weekend in Missoula, falling twice at the Northwestern/Southwestern A tip-off tourney.

After a slow first quarter the Lady Pirates picked up the pace in the next three frames but it wasn’t enough to get past Anaconda’s Lady Copperheads in the 30-43 loss.

Nichole Lake topped Lady Pirate scorers with 12.

Saturday the Lady Pirates suffered a single point 37-38 defeat at the hands of Bigfork.

Lady Pirate Marlee Congdon scored a game-high of 14 points, 12 of which came from 3-point territory and scored in the first quarter. Lake and Erin Sampson chipped in six apiece.

The Lady Pirates will play in Kalispell, taking on Flathead Dec. 19 and will return to host Hamilton Dec. 20.
