ST. REGIS – The Warriors continued their undefeated steamrolling this last week while stomping a 14-C league rival and then stepped up in class to challenge a hard-nosed Class B buddy, bringing the Warriors to 14-0 on the season.

In Tiger territory Thursday, the Warriors paced triple digits on the board while pulverizing a stunned St. Regis 100-39. With frame scores over 20 in three of the four quarters and after logging nine Warrior athletes posting points, the Tigers were left with the look of “what just happened?” as the Warriors ran away with the 14-C conference win.

Warriors Isaac Desjarlais and Patrick BigSam combined for 38 netting 19 apiece while PJ Haynes was right behind with 18. Tyler Tanner and Riley Rogers each chipped in 11.

Saturday the Warriors traveled to Missoula to take on Class B’s Loyola-Sacred Heart and in one of the closest games thus far in the dominating Warrior season, Arlee tipped the ball in at the OT buzzer off the fingertips of Bradley Brazill to get the 84-82 overtime win.

Brazill finished with 15 points, right behind Tanners high-scoring 26. Justis Haynes, Rogers and BigSam also tossed in double digits to help fuel the Warriors in the nail-biter.

The Warriors will take their game home for the next two games inviting Mission on Friday and Noxon on Saturday.

Friday the Vikings traded punches with the Eagles in a rocky first quarter but a big rallying second half propelled the Vikings to get the 33-63 league win over Two Eagle River at home.

Viking Dugan Runkel strapped on his performance shoes, logging a double-double for the Vikings. Runkel scored 15 at the hoop and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Kobe Cox and Dalton Delaney combined for 23 with Cox scoring 12 and Delaney adding 11.

In Florence on Saturday, seven Bulldogs scored and Fisher-Ahenakew led with 22 but it wasn’t enough to get past 6B rival Falcon’s big scorers on the floor and the Bulldogs went home with the 54-70 conference loss.

POLSON – While battling through overtime blues, the Pirates dropped a couple games last week with marathon-level battles, bringing their season win/loss total to 3-9.

On Tuesday, Jan. 27, the Pirates hosted Stevensville in a locked up fight ending with the Pirates falling 60-61 in overtime.

After gaining a slight lead in the third frame, Stevensville came back with a big fourth quarter, forcing the clock to reset for overtime and ending the game with just a one-point advantage over the Pirates.

Pirate Matthew Rensvold and Tanner Wilson combined for more than half of the Pirates points with Rensvold netting 17 and Wilson adding 15. Andrew Curley hit double digits with 10.

At Frenchtown on Friday the Pirates locked horns once again in the fourth quarter to bring it into overtime against the Broncs. Running behind the Broncs for most of the game, the Pirates kept the score close enough for Curley to hit a three pointer seconds before the buzzer to launch the Pirates into extra frames, but in the end Polson lost the final prize fight 65-69 to Frenchtown.

Despite the loss, four Pirate scorers net in the double digit range with Curley leading after tossing in 16. Wilson added 14 while Rensvold and Payton Lefthand each logged 12.

Chiefs Cedric Earthboy and Colton McCrea high-scored for their team, each netting nine apiece.

Friday the Chiefs hosted Corvallis, and in front of an overfilling gym, the Chiefs brought the fans to their feet with an exciting overtime 55-54 win over the Blue Devils. Justin Krahn nailed free throws with only seconds left on the OT clock to secure the victory.
