Sherry LaMoine 

Couture Malatare

 

ARLEE — Sherry LaMoine Couture Malatare, 61, passed away at home with family by her side, Jan. 23, 2010, ending a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born to Gene and Jeanette Couture in St. Ignatius on Dec. 5, 1948. She attended schools in Arlee and Washington. She graduated from Griffen Business College with a business degree.

She was preceded in death by parents; daughter, Shelly Malatare; sister, Audrey Guardipee; brother, Kenny Couture; and son-in-law, Trace Mesteth.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Jim Malatare; daughter, Kelly (Allen) Pierre; son, Clayton (Terri) Malatare; grandchildren William (Ashley) Mesteth, Sean (Miranda) Mesteth, Tashina Malatare, Clayton Malatare, Trey Malatare, Theresa Malatare and Alyssa Malatare; brothers Carl Couture and Ron Couture; sister, Sandy Shocker; and great-aunt, Penny Jolly.

A wake began Sunday, Jan. 24 with the Rosary being held Monday Mass was celebrated Jan. 26 and burial followed in St. Ignatius.

 

Stark O. “David” Cherry 

 

RONAN — Stark O. “David” Cherry, 84, passed away Jan. 19, 2010 at Ronan’s St. Luke Community Hospital.

David was born June 26, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He attended Oakwood Academy in Alabama and the University of Pittsburgh. 

Serving in the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946, he was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific campaign medal with a Bronze Star and received a Good Conduct and Victory medal, World War II Army Occupation medal, World War II Japanese Clasp and Philippine Liberation Ribbon. 

David loved Italian food and Russian classical music. 

He is survived by sisters Fannie Cherry, Louise Cherry and Gladdys Cherry; stepsons David Clairmont and Corky Clairmont; niece, Genne Umstead; nephew, James Lyons; and best friends, Alf Salway and Winogene.

A memorial service was conducted on Jan. 22 at Grogan Funeral Home. Grave side services with military honors followed at the Ronan Cemetery.
