Valley teams compete at Corvallis Invite

CORVALLIS – Track teams from Polson, Ronan, Charlo, Two Eagle River and Arlee met up in Corvallis Saturday to open up the season for track and field.

Out of the 16 boys teams placing scores, Polson fared the best, taking fourth with a team score of 52 while Charlo and Ronan also made it into the top 10 with Charlo scoring 20 and Ronan sneaking in the 10 spot after posting a team score of 11.

On the boys’ side, Pirate Jacob Clairmont had an impressive first tourney showing after grabbing a first and two second places. Clairmont placed first in the long jump by launching 19-02, grabbing silver in the 300 yard hurdles (44.70) and pole vault after clearing 12-0.

Also finishing up in second was Two Eagle River’s Kamiah Payne who landed an 18-11 long jump.

Third place finishers include Polson’s Danny DiGiallonardo (LJ) and Colton Cote (400) and Ronan’s Bryce Cullen (300h). Pirate relay team also placed third in the 1600 and fourth in the 400m and the Vikings relay team snatched up a fourth place finish in the 1600. 

Rounding out the top five were Charlo’s Michael Delaney (100, 300h) and Dalton Delaney (3200), Matthew Rensvold of Polson (400) and Ronan Chief Tyler Houle (PV) while Comfort Bolen from the Two Eagle River team placed fifth in the long jump.

For the girls the Arlee Scarlets were the only team out of the valley to place in the top 10 with a score an overall team score of 28, good for a fifth place finish.

Lady Pirate Mariah Corrigan was the only valley gold winner as she placed first in javelin, tossing 120-8.

Helping her team reach the top five, Scarlet Carly Hergett placed second in both the long jump (15-03) and in the triple jump landing 33-07 while also grabbing a third place in 100 hurdles.

Joining Hergett in the second place club was Brooklyn Foust with a 2:39.60 finish in the 800 meter race good for silver.

Lady Pirate Lydia Bowman took home third in the pole vault while Maiden Sydnee Clairmont also picked up a third place finish in the high jump.

Lady Vikings Sienna Brown (200) and Cheyenne Nagy (300h) both finished in fourth while Lady Pirate Malia Seeley placed fifth in the 3200.

Also finishing with a five spot were Scarlets Ashley Revis (200, 400) and Bryndle Goyins (Jav) and Ronan’s Penni Weyant (800).

 

The Charlo team placed third in the 1600 relay while Ronan took fifth and Polson finished in fifth for the short 400.

Arlee, Charlo, Ronan and Two Eagle River will all head to Missoula to compete in the Dornblazer Invite Thursday at the University of Montana while Polson will host its own Triangular also on Thursday.
