POLSON – Though the weather was in their favor, the Pirates and Lady Pirates faced a struggle on the courts Friday and Saturday with the girls posting the only team win.

Friday against Dillon, the boys saw single wins from both Colin Kenney and Matt Sitter with Kenney winning his match 6-2, 6-3. Sitter won his match 7-6 (7), 6-4.

Pirate doubles team Josh Kinzle/Kabe Forman-Webster won their match 8-5.

For the Lady Pirates, Mollie Lemm posted a score of 6-3, 6-1, good for a win while Natalee Wheeler and Kyler Lundeen also won their matches. Wheeler took it into extra games winning the battle 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 and Lundeen finished with a 6-4, 6-1 score.

Day two brought a win for the girls but the boys continued to lose ground as the Pirates fell to both Dillon and Whitefish; but the Lady Pirates found redemption against Dillon.

Against Dillon the Pirates scored 2 to Dillon’s 5.

Pirate Tim Russell won in extra games 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-2) in the singles competition while the doubles team of Tommy Mercer/Cadis Chowning won their match double bagel style 6-0, 6-0.

Against Whitefish the Pirates fell 3-4.

Topping the three wins was doubles team Mercer/Chowning with a score of 6-2, 6-1.

For the Lady Pirates a first round redemption against Dillon trumped an earlier loss as they toppled the Lady Beavers 4-3.

Lemm posted the best score with a 6-1, 6-1 win.

In the contest against Whitefish, the Lady Pirates fell 2-5.

Lady Pirates Lemm and Marlee Congdon won the two matches with Lemm shining with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Polson will play in Corvallis Friday and then head to Kalispell on Monday.

RONAN – Though no team scores were reported, the Chiefs and Maidens tennis teams enjoyed multiple wins while hosting Troy Thursday.

For the girls, Maidens Hannah Bird Rattler, Hannah Kiehn and Sam Ashley posted battling wins with all three taking it to extra games.

Bird Rattler won her match 7-6, 5-7, 6-4, Kiehn going 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 and Ashley posting a winning 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

The Chiefs were led by Colton Roullier who won his match 6-1, 6-1 followed by Fisher Shima who marked victory with a score of 6-3, 6-1 and Coleman Taylor taking it to a tie breaking win of 7-6, 2-6, 7-5.

The Chiefs also handed Troy a comeback doubles team win from Ethan Blevins/Caleb Koble 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Chiefs and Maidens will hit Darby Thursday and then will travel to Libby Saturday.
