Free classes offered on canning, jamming, drying

News from Polson Farmers Market

POLSON — Polson Farmers Market invites interested participants to free food handling and storage classes taught by Montana State University Extension Agent Rene Kittle.

Each qualified SNAP recipient who attends an entire class will receive valuable information on food preparation and storage;

a $20 certificate will be presented upon completion of each class to be used at Polson Farmers Market for fresh SNAP food tokens.

SNAP food tokens can be used to purchase produce, baked goods and plants that produce food, such as vegetable starts and herbs.

Classed include children’s activities, so bring the kids.

All classes will be held at Polson Flathead Reservation Extension office located at the Tribal Senior Center, 701 B First Street East, 

Class dates are:

Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 2-3 p.m. — Jam making

Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 2-5 p.m.  — How to can

Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 2-3 p.m.  — Dehydrating and drying

Sign up at the farmers market with LouAnne Hoskinson (the bread lady with the token board in the middle of the market) or Melissa Michel (Glacier Lily soaps, by The Cove).
