Annie Britton

RONAN – Ruby Ann, “Annie” Britton went to heaven Friday, Aug. 21, 2015. She passed away peacefully in her home in Ronan. She will be greatly missed as she was a wonderful mother, a loving wife and a compassionate friend to all who met her.

Annie was born to John and Linnie Milgrim Aug. 31, 1940, in Highland Park, Tennessee. She grew up in a close-knit family with a strong work ethic. Her love of gardening and growing beautiful flowers came from those happy, early years.

Annie married Bobbie Thiel and had three rambunctious boys, Rockie, Bobby, and Eugene. They later divorced. Anni met, gave her heart to, and married Kenneth Britton and with that union came their beautiful daughter, Tina.

Ann’s greatest joy was caring for her family and she celebrated and loved each addition to the family. She loved spending time with each family member and had a remarkable way of making each one feel like they were the most important person in the world. Annie was a wonderful cook and a gracious host, spending an entire day making a huge meal to share with kids, grandkids and anyone else who stopped by. She loved playing games and was a competitive dart player. She loved every aspect of the game, especially winning.

Annie loved all creatures and it showed in her numerous birds, fish, and her beloved dogs, many rescued. She enjoyed evenings surrounded by her pets, her loving them, and them loving her. Annie was a beautiful example of the best of humanity and the world was a better place with her in it.

Annie’s parents, her sisters, Mamie and Jeanette, and her brother Buddy precede her in death.

Annie’s husband Ken; her sons Rockie, Bobby (Melody), and Eugene; her daughter, Tina Cass (Jason); her sisters Jeanie Johnson and Hazel Patterson and many beloved grandchildren survive her.

A viewing will be held at Shrider-Thompson Funeral Home in Ronan on Friday, Aug. 28, from 4-6 p.m.

The funeral will be held at the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship in Ronan on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 2 p.m.

Donations can be made to the Lake County Humane Society.
