Arlee

The Arlee Warriors are 2-0 in the Western C after blowout wins over Victor on Aug. 31 and Superior on Friday night.

After smoky air prompted Arlee to reschedule its Aug. 28 season opener against Victor, the Warriors hosted the match on Monday, Aug. 31, sending the Pirates off the plank with a 54-8 loss. Quarterback Pat Big Sam blazed the way for Arlee, throwing for five touchdowns and running for two more (30 and 25 yards). Tyler Tanner caught three of Big Sam’s TD passes (44, 30 and 15 yards), while Isaac Desjarlais carried in 55-yard and 41-yard passes for scores. Lee Bolin also scored on a 2-yard run.

On Friday, the Warriors traveled to Superior to crush the Bobcats 64-20 behind another mighty effort from Big Sam. He tossed three touchdowns to Tanner (55, 24 and 26 yards) and scored on two runs at 4 and 5 yards.

Desjarlais had two touchdowns, a 16-yard run and a 45-yard interception return to wind up the first quarter, and Philip Malatare also scored twice, first on a 38-yard pass from Tanner to open the game. He also had Arlee’s last TD off an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors have a week off before they head to Charlo on Sept. 18.
