Arlee

The Scarlets split the week’s games, picking up a win in St. Regis on Thursday before dropping a home match with Plains on Saturday.

In St. Regis, Arlee had a little trouble with the Tigers in the second set but locked in the win 25-15, 26-24, 25-17. Carly Hergett led the Arlee attack with 13 kills, seven blocks and four digs, while Megan Reed served up six of the team’s total 18 aces.

Against Class B Plains, Hergett again led Arlee in aces with five, while Becca Whitesell had eight assists. Bryndle Goyins added six digs and three blocks for the Scarlets, now 3-1.

Arlee also hosted Granite on Tuesday and will head to Hot Springs Thursday before Noxon comes to Arlee on Saturday.

Charlo

CHARLO — The Lady Vikings played host to a trio of Western C rivals last week and came away victorious in two out of three matches, notching wins over Plains on Thursday and Noxon on Friday before dropping Saturday’s game against Seeley-Swan.

Against Plains, Cheyenne Nagy tallied nine kills, three aces and three digs, while teammate Mikaylan Roylance pitched in a whopping 20 assists. Ashley Tryon and Teara Truman also had three aces apiece. Nagy was again a powerful force against Noxon, chalking up 17 of the team’s 44 kills as well as 14 digs and an ace. Tryon had five aces, and Roylance added 13 assists and eight digs.

The Lady Blackhawks proved a tougher opponent on Saturday, escaping with the win in four sets. Charlo got off to a strong start, winning the first set 25-17, but the Lady Vikings couldn’t overcome Seeley’s fielding, led by Paige Holmes with 27 of the team’s 76 digs. Charlo hung tight throughout the game, matching Seeley’s 10 aces and falling just behind with 31 kills to Seeley’s 36. Roylance again led the Lady Vikings in assists with 16.

Charlo will host Two Eagle on Thursday and Hot Springs on Saturday.

Two Eagle River

The Lady Eagles split their matches for the week, rising to 1-2 on the season in District 10-C play. The Pablo team was on the road to Superior and Hot Springs, falling to the Bobcats 26-24, 25-14, 25-17 but hanging on for the win in four over the Savage Heat, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-21.

Against Superior, Tyra Michel and Misty Mendoza tallied six kills apiece to lead the Lady Eagles, who nearly took the first set. Michel also had four blocks, while Naomi Stevens led in aces with four. Casadi Wunderlich helped out with 10 of Two Eagle’s 19 assists.

In Hot Springs, the Lady Eagles came back after dropping the second set 22-25 and used Wunderlich’s 18 assists to their advantage.

Stevens had six of Two Eagle’s 20 aces, while teammate ShayLyn Andrew tallied four kills. Michel added 19 digs and five blocks.

Ronan

RONAN — Ronan’s netters had a tough time on Saturday as visiting Libby and Bigfork both hammered the Maidens in quick three-set losses.

Against Libby (25-18, 25-22, 25-20), Lee Camel had five blocks to lead the defense, while Sadie Wirz chipped in 22 digs. Shaina Snyder had all seven of the team’s assists, and Silye Pete added three kills.

Bigfork was next with a decisive 25-22, 25-5, 25-21 victory over the home team. Pete tallied two aces and four kills for the Maidens, while Alicia Camel had four kills and Lee Camel smashed four blocks.

Ronan also took a trip to neighboring Charlo on Tuesday and will head to Thompson Falls on Thursday.

St. Ignatius

ST. IGNATIUS — The Lady Bulldogs hosted Troy and Anaconda on Saturday, and it was a tough afternoon for the home team in two three-set losses.

Against Troy, Jordyn Eichert chalked up nine digs for the Lady Bulldogs and passed out 11 of Mission’s 20 assists in the 25-15, 25-17, 25-14 loss. Sidney Castor added nine kills.

In their first District 6-B match of the season, the Lady Bulldogs fell to Anaconda 25-14, 25-17, 25-20, moving their season record to 0-4. Castor again led in kills with five of the team’s 13, and Alanai Linsedigler served four of Mission’s seven aces.

The Lady Bulldogs will have a chance to improve their record on Thursday when they host Bigfork.

Troy def. St. Ignatius, 25-15, 25-17, 25-14.

Polson

The Lady Pirates split their games for the week, falling in a hard-fought five-set match to Frenchtown on Thursday before picking up an easy three-set win over Stevensville at home on Saturday.

In Frenchtown, the Polson girls rallied in the third set to extend the match, and they again took the win in the fourth before the Broncs’ defense stopped them, 25-22, 25-22, 24-26, 12-25, 15-13. Chavelle Smith recorded 15 kills, and Ann Sampson had 28 assists for the Lady Pirates. Polson also racked up 18 aces to Frenchtown’s 10, with six coming from Erin Sampson.

Things went much more smoothly for Polson at home on Saturday when they cruised to a 25-10, 25-14, 25-22 victory over the Yellowjackets. With 32 kills, 10 from Chadelle Smith, 12 aces (six from Haley Fyant) and a team total of 74 digs (Marlee Congdon had 20), it was quick work for the Lady Pirates. Erin Sampson chipped in 30 of Polson’s 33 assists.

After hosting Thompson Falls on Tuesday, the Lady Pirates will travel to Columbia Falls on Thursday.
