News from Lake County Pachyderms

POLSON – The Lake County Pachyderm Club will host Dr. Richard D. Erb as its guest speaker on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Polson Rural Fire Hall Meeting Room, with a social time at 11:30 a.m. and the speaker at noon.

The topic is Monetary Conflicts and Currency Wars; Is the U.S. Dollar Under Attack?

Dr. Erb’s talk will cover current world economic policies impacting the status of the U.S. dollar’s position and vulnerability as the world’s reserve currency, particularly in light of Russia’s, Japan’s, and China’s recent moves affecting their currencies relationship to the U.S. dollar and world trade. Is the U.S. under economic attack from other world powers? This is a subject of huge relevance as we choose the slate of our next leaders going into the 2016 election year.

Dr. Erb is a professor of economics at the University of Montana. Initially appointed as U.S. Director on the International Monetary Fund Executive Board by President Reagan, he became Deputy Managing Director of the IMF serving for a period of 13 years. Prior to his work at the IMF, he served in senior economic policy positions at the U.S. Treasury Department, the White House Staff under President Nixon, and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
