Light streamed from the windows of the Valley View Clubhouse on Thursday night, beckoning moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas, aunts, uncles and cousins for the annual holiday program presented by the Valley View Elementary School students.
The atmosphere was warm as neighbors visited and ate a potluck dinner before the excited children donned costumes and patted on stage makeup for “A Holiday Moosical,” written by John Jacobson and John Higgins. The kids had decorated and practiced for three straight days
Marty Moose, played by Esaie Kinsey, wanted to fly even though the reindeer said he couldn’t. Surrounded by elves, trees, toy soldiers, rag dolls, candy canes, a snowman, reindeer and Christmas trees all giving advice, Marty had offers to become a dancer, among other careers. Christmas is the season of miracles, and his dream came true.
The play was directed by Jean Gravening, classroom aide and music instructor.
The holiday program also signaled the beginning of Christmas vacation for Valley View students.
