Mission Valley Christian Academy

POLSON —The Mission Valley Christian Academy boys-only team beat Polson High School’s JV team 7-3 on Oct. 13.

MVCA’s Lucca Maddy scored the first goal of the game after just 9 minutes of play. Polson’s Alex Maushart found the net late in the first half, but was quickly answered by a Jake Windauer goal on a pass from Brady Shipley. Just one minute later, Nick Windauer scored.

After the half, Polson’s Robin Erickson and Xavier Stalkfleet each scored a goal before MVCA dominated the remainder of play, adding four consecutive points in 11 minutes. The Windauers combined for three of the goals while Nate Goodrich added a point with help from Jake Windauer.

The season ended with two games in Plains. The first game was a coed game against Plains that MVCA won, 8-5. MVCA held a 7-2 lead at halftime, but Plains responded with three unanswered goals in the second before Jake Windauer’s final point. Jake Windauer led the scoring with four goals while Lucca Maddy added three and Nick Windauer scored on a penalty kick.

Lexie Maddy had an assist.

MVCA faced Thompson Falls in game two in Plains. Having lost six starters due to scheduling conflicts and personal commitments, MVCA played the game with just 12 athletes, including seven middle-school-age players.

“Our 12 players worked hard for the entire game but with only one sub, we ran out of gas in the last minutes of the game and lost 1-3,” Coach Jess Kittle said.

Thompson Falls was able to get the go ahead goal in the final minute of regular time on a PK and then the ref added 3 minutes of stoppage time and Thompson Falls was able to get another goal during that stoppage time.

Lexie Maddy connected from a Breken Clarke pass to score MVCA’s only goal 10 minutes into the game.

The boys team finished the season with a 2-0 record and the girls team finished with a 3-3-1 record.

The co-ed team finished with a 9-1 record, outscoring their opponents 62-19 this season while playing a total of 710 minutes in 10 games.

“In those 710 minutes, we were behind on the scoreboard for only 7 minutes,” Kittle said. “That is only 1 percent of the total time.”
