ST. IGNATIUS – Homecoming royalty stood on the football field Friday night during half-time just long enough to crown Nathan Doll as the king and Jordyn Eichert as the queen.
“It’s so cold,” Jordyn’s mom, Chris Eichert, said while her daughter ran to the locker room to change from a sleeveless dress into winter style clothes while many spectators watched the rest of the football game bundled in heavy coats and blankets.
The senior royalty line-up included Nick Durglo, Robbie Erickson and Billy von Holtum. The girls were Pam Anderson, Sydney Castor and Daisie VandenBos.
During the week, the students participated in many activities, including a food drive for the local food bank. The sophomores brought in the most cans, although the middle school kids broke a school-wide record with thousands of food items. The eighth graders brought in the highest number of items for all grade levels.
The seniors won the dress-up contest, the sophomores won the poster contest and the juniors won the skit contest. The sophomores also won the float contest with a giant can of soup called “Cream of Chiefs” in honor of the football game against the Ronan Chiefs. This gave sophomores enough points to be the overall winners of spirit week and to receive the Pride Bone for the year.
