News from the Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition

POST CREEK — Flathead Reservation Human Rights Coalition is pleased to announce a public Celebration for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Jan. 16, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Mission Valley United Methodist Church—70715 Highway 93, top of Post Creek Hill. 

The keynote speaker will be Dustin Monroe/CEO and founder of Native Generational Change, a grassroots organization that is working to improve inter-generational mobility for all Native Americans. He is a member of the Assiniboine and Blackfeet Tribe of Montana and a military veteran. Dustin has a business degree with an emphasis in management from the University of Montana and is working on a Ph.D. In Medical Anthropology. With more than 13 years of experience in management, Dustin has gained an expertise in working with various non-profits. He will speak on the purpose, goals and activities of Native Generational Change and the importance of speaking up for others.

Musical selections will be performed by The Crown of the Continent Choir from Kalispell, directed by Craig Hodges. A group of varied ages, musical backgrounds and life experiences, the 50-70 voice choir sings at many community activities for local charities that share their vision for social justice, environmental stewardship, open religious dialogue and inclusivity. They are a non-sectarian, not-for-profit choir that sings to spread joy and support community growth. A free-will offering will be accepted to defray choir expenses.

Winners of the MLK Essay Contest will be announced and after the program, a reception will be held in the Friendship Hall where refreshments will be served and prizes will be awarded. The public iscordially invited to attend.
