ST. IGNATIUS — Jade Damian “JD” Gun Hammer, 39, passed away at St. Patrick’s Hospital on March 25.
Born in Billings, on Feb. 25, 1977, to John Gun Hammer Jr. and Agnes Hernandez Gun Hammer, he was raised and educated on the Flathead Reservation and in Missoula. A dry-waller by trade, he worked with his brother John. He married Donna MakesColdWeather, who preceded him in death in 2009.
He loved to fish the many streams and lakes around the area and loved being in the Mission Mountains.
Jade’s father, John Gun Hammer Jr., preceded him in death in 2005.
Jade’s mother, Agnes Hernandez Gun Hammer; brothers John (Summer) Gun Hammer III of Great Falls and Cleve Gun Hammer of St. Ignatius; sister Rebecca Gun Hammer of Billings and baby sister Daisy Gun Hammer of St. Ignatius; godson Dakota Gun Hammer and sister/cousin Mary Sue Hewankorn; godmother Patty Widner of Billings and aunt/mom Dianna Hernandez Stieger; uncle Ron Hernandez; step-children Candy and Lucinda MakesColdWeather and Hayes Googles; grandkids, Zane, Jose, and Lillian and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and his special friend Sharon Cain, all survive him.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Longhouse. Burial will follow and he will be laid to rest by family.
