ARLEE – It wasn’t the biggest turnout this year at the second annual Father Daughter Dance, and those that did show up had space to bust out their moves on the dance floor while the Rock Pickers sang old-time country songs.

The dance was themed around fathers and daughters dressing up and going to the dance together, hence, the name Father Daughter Dance, and fathers did participate with their daughters, but so did grandfathers, mothers, cousins, sisters and many other family combinations — including neighbors.

Alexis Arlee, 8, said she enjoyed dancing with her friends. She also got her father, Travis Arlee, to dance.

“We did a lot of cool dancing,” she said.

Dib Espinoza saw a similar father-daughter dance in another state and thought it would be a good idea to try it out in Arlee. He said the event could use a bigger crowd, but its purpose was served.

“This is to get everyone together to get dressed up and have some fun,” he said.

The event was also used as a fundraiser to bring in money for the Brown Building, which is where the dance was held. The building, a community center along Highway 93, also holds many other events throughout the year.

Tom Barger, president of the Brown Building board, said that revenue from the dance including the $500 donation from the Blackfoot Telephone Company will be used for building improvements.
