LAKE COUNTY — Trees make a world of difference — they clean the air and water, slow climate change, ease poverty and hunger, prevent species loss and feed the human soul, according to the Arbor Day Foundation. The annual day set aside to plant and care for trees is Friday, commemorating the first American Arbor Day in Nebraska City, Nebraska on April 10, 1872, when about one million trees were planted in a single day.
Friday is also Clean Up Green Up day in Polson. All residents are encouraged to meet at the North Lake County Library at 9 a.m. to pick up gloves and be assigned to an area around town.
