Hannah Marie Pierce

KALISPELL — Hannah Marie Pierce, 70, of Polson, Montana, joined her mother and father in death at 2:32 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell.

She was born on March 18, 1946, in Livingston to Adeline and Eugene Fields Knoke. She married William Barnhart in March of 1963 in Livingston, Montana and then divorced.

Surviving are her three brothers: Daniel Eugene Knoke of Ohio; Carl David Knoke of Everett, Washington; and Richard Frank Knoke of Butte; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her surviving children include: Donald Eugene Pierce of Marion, South Dakota; Anthony Duane Pierce of Pablo; and Debra Elaine Dorsett of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Hannah spent most of her life in Montana. In her earlier childhood years, Hannah helped her father raise her three siblings and to herd sheep in Walla Walla, Washington, the Crazy Mountains, and the Laubauch sheep ranch in Springdale, Montana, in the 1970s.

Hannah had many talents and was very creative. She sewed clothing for her siblings and kids growing up. She was also a head cook at the Husky Truck Stop in Livingston for many years until she met and married her last and still-surviving husband, Nathan Allan Pierce of Deer Lodge, in June of 1978.

Hannah spent her time on the road with her husband, who helped to raise her kids until they graduated and had families of their own. Eight years later she divorced and remained single until two months prior to her death. She had found her place and happiness once again next to a gentleman named Jim Hayes. Many thanks go to the gentleman that captured my mom’s heart.

Funeral services were held at Foster Funeral Home in St. Ignatius on Sunday, May 1.
