Golf for Griz tourney deadline fast approaching

RONAN — Thursday, May 19 is the final day to sign up for the annual Tana Bockman Memorial Golf for the Griz Tournament in Ronan. Entries will not be accepted the day of the tournament, Friday, May 20. University of Montana coaches and staff will be on hand to golf on a rotating basis with entries. Those coaches and staff include Head Football Coach Bob Stitt, Head Softball Coach Jamie Pinkerton, Head Soccer Coach Mark Plakorus, Head Volleyball Coach Brian Doyon, Tennis Coaches Steve Asher and Kris Nord, Golf Coach Matt Higgins and Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach Shannon Schweyen, Assistant Athletic Director Dan Ingram and Grizzly Scholarship Association Director and Radio Commentator Greg Sundberg.

The event is an 18-hole co-ed scramble followed by a whole pig barbecue and trimmings. The Mission Mountain Chapter of the Grizzly Scholarship Association is sponsoring the tourney on the Mission Mountain Golf Course west of Ronan. 

The fee for participants is $80 per golfer ($70 for MMGC card holders). The fee covers golf, barbecue and prizes. The cart fee is $15.The charge for those who only want the barbecue is $25. 

The tourney will tee off with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. The barbecue will begin at 4 p.m. A silent auction will also take place. All proceeds from the tournament and auction go toward scholarships for U of M Grizzly student athletes.

Entries may be picked up and dropped off at the golf course or sent to Mission Mountain Golf Course, 46664 Golf Course Way, Ronan MT 59864 attention Joey Esch. Entry fees must accompany the entries. Fees must be paid by cash or check made out to Mission Mountain GSA. Individual entries will be teamed with other individual entries.
