POLSON – The Cove Deli and Pizza will be hosting the second annual Rock Skipping Championship at Riverside Park in Polson on Saturday, May 28 and registration will begin at 9 a.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Mission Valley Ice Arena Association. To enter the contest, email flatheadrockskipping@gmail.com or register on site from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Participants must bring their own skipping rocks.

The MVIAA has recently reached a 501c3 non-profit status, enabling easier and hassle-free donations. The website will soon be updated to reflect the change in status, and until then donations can be made by emailing hillozar@gmail.com.

Carmine Mowbray, a local donor, has generously given $25,000 to support MVIAA, but the proceeds can only be used once her donation is matched by the community. Along with donations, interested community members can purchase raffle tickets for a hunting rifle at Turnage, Mercer, and Wall law firm in Polson or at Total Screen Design in Polson to support the project.

MVIAA is seeking volunteers to answer questions about the project, sign up people for their email newsletter, and hand out fliers at different events that MVIAA will be participating in. Anyone interested in volunteering can email Hilary Lozar, the chair of MVIAA at hillozar@gmail.com.

MVIAA thanks everyone, from the donors to the volunteers, who have worked so hard this past year to make building an ice rink a possibility.
