News from the Mission Valley Ice Arena Association
POLSON — The board members of the Mission Valley Ice Arena Association would like to send our sincerest thanks to the people of the Mission Valley for the hearty support we received this last weekend at our 2nd Annual Rock Skipping Championships. There were more than 30 participants this year, each accompanied by a variety of spectators and supporters. It was a wonderful opportunity for people of all ages, from all kinds of places, to come together and participate in a supportive community-based competition, have a lot of fun, and potentially win a title. The generosity and support shown by the whole group was overwhelming. We would like to specifically thank Kevin Avison, Ryan Avison, Mike Lozar, and the staff at the Cove Deli for organizing the event and feeding the participants. Thanks to Steve Lozar and Kevin Avison for judging and tallying the rock skipping, and huge thanks to Dick and Sandy Bratton for heading the Participants' Procession with great enthusiasm and skill. Thanks also to KPAX, the Valley Journal, Lake County Leader, and other local entities that helped us advertise and encourage participation for this event. The proceeds from the competition have generously been donated to our organization, to help make it possible to build an ice arena for the entire community to enjoy.
