News from the Boys and Girls Club

LAKE COUNTY — Each month at the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County, the staff has the painstaking task of choosing two Members of the Month – one boy and one girl who have exemplified the six pillars of good character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. It’s a hard task, but each month, the staff manages to select just two Club Members who have been particularly strong leaders in the Club. This May at the Boys and Girls Club Polson Unit, Sequoia Renee Constance Niemeyer and Antone Rayshawn Takeshorse have been nominated as the notable Members of the Month.

At 8 years old, Sequoia describes herself as a kind, curious and serious young lady. She has been a Club Member for two years now, and her favorite Club activity is Art, especially painting. She also enjoys spending time with the caring, nice staff with whom she feels safe and also greatly trusts. The staff has nominated her as a Member of the Month because she has demonstrated much growth in the past months. She is very mature for her age and consistently keeps a positive attitude. She is also very open-minded and is not afraid to try new things. On the weekends, Sequoia likes to have sleepovers with her friends. When she is older, she would like to be a ballerina.

Also 8 years old, Antone has been nominated for demonstrating much growth, as well. His academic work has improved greatly, and he completes his homework with much focus and diligence during PowerHour. He also keeps up a positive attitude and is very flexible with change. He has been attending the Club for two years now, and his favorite activity is free time outside when he acts out his favorite computer games with his friends. A smart, hard-working and serious young man, he most enjoys playing games and having sleepovers with his friends on the weekends. When he is older, he would like to be a professional basketball player.

Arianna Zepeda and Liam Enrique Mejias have been for the Ronan unit.

A kind, respectful and responsible young lady, Arianna, age 9, was nominated for her confident, mature and easy-going manner. Although she has only been a Club member for two months now, she has demonstrated excellent listening skills and is always eager to please. She enjoys working with all the staff because they are always kind, caring and respectful to her. On the weekends, she most enjoys jumping on her trampoline, spending time with her brother and playing “Hide and Go Seek” with her friends. When she is older, she is looking forward to being an artist.

Also nominated for his easy-going nature, good humor and contagious smile, Liam, age 7, has been a Club member for one year one. He most enjoys free time at the Club when he gets to play SpiderMan games on his tablet. A healthy, intelligent and loyal young gentleman, he likes to go to the park with his family on weekends in order to play on the swings and enjoy a delicious cookout. When he is older, he would like to work at the Boys and Girls Club as a Program Staff so that he can share all the fun that he’s had at the Club with future youth. The Club can’t wait to hire him.

Keep posted about further reports on the exceptional members of the Boys and Girls Club of the Flathead Reservation and Lake County.
