POLSON — The Polson community will have an opportunity to hear the accomplished Ellerhein Girl’s Choir on Monday, July 18 at 7 p.m. at the Polson High School auditorium. The choir from Tallinn, Estonia is traveling to the United States to participate in the International Choral Festival in Missoula. The festival is held once every three years.

The Ellerhein Choir members are young women ranging in age from 14 to 19 years old, and who perform both classical and contemporary choral music by outstanding composers from all over the world. Concert tours have taken Ellerhein to countries throughout Europe as well as Australia, Japan, and Russia. Apart from giving concerts, all singers receive training in vocal, solfeggio, and harmony classes.

The choir has competed and won several international choral competitions. Ellerhein also received a Grammy award in 2004 for best choral performance for their CD “Sibelius: cantatas.” The choir’s performance in Polson is being sponsored by Missoula’s Festival as part of their “Outreach” program, which is made possible through a grant from the Montana Arts Council’s Cultural Trust. Missoula’s Outreach program is devoted to fostering cultural exchange and good will through the universal language of music by bringing world-class choirs to other Montana towns before or after the main Festival to be held in Missoula July 13-16.

The public is invited to attend this free public concert and visit with the musicians after the performance. For more information contact Chris Bumgarner at 406-883-6852 or 406-871-2798.
