ARLEE — Remember the old Burma Shave signs? Bill recalled one as we drove Highway 12 over Lolo Pass into Idaho last Thursday: “You can beat a mile-a-minute ...but there ain’t no future in it. BURMA SHAVE.” Corny but true. The motorcycle accident we came upon around one blind curve proved the need to heed the speed limit signs and proceed with caution.

In a happier vein we were fortunate enough to see a mother moose and her calf calmly feeding in a swampy area, (well away from the highway, as opposed to the numerous deer crossing the highway at that early hour).

The foot care lady will come to the Arlee Senior Center on Monday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. Stop by and schedule a time for her to clip those toenails. She does a nice short, soothing foot massage also. There is no charge, but a small donation is much appreciated. It goes for foot care supplies. You may call the center at 406-726-3213 to sign up, or just stop by when you see cars out front. We’d love to have you stay for lunch and visit with friends at noon next Monday.

Lunches are served at noon every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and a dinner is served at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Saturday evenings of each month.

Menus for July 13-23:

— Wednesday, July 13: French-dip sandwiches

— Friday, July 15: chef salad and soup

— Monday, July 18: meatloaf — Wednesday, July 20: ham dinner

— Friday, July 22: taco salad

— Saturday, July 23: fried chicken dinner, potato salad, dessert
