News from Lake County Community Development Corporation

RONAN — On Aug. 3, John Winegart of Lake County Community Development Corporation received certification as an Economic Development Finance Professional from the National Development Council. EDFP Certification is a professional credential given to individuals who successfully complete NDC’s intensive economic development finance training series. The training provides individuals working in the field of economic development with instruction in business credit analysis, real estate financing, loan packaging, deal structuring and negotiating and the creation and implementation of development programs.

Each of the four EDFP Certification Program courses are five days in length and conclude with an exam. Upon successful completion of all four courses, the candidate is awarded EDFP Certification.

Winegart joined Lake County Community Development Corporation as the Loan Portfolio Manager in 2013. Winegart had spent the previous 21 years as the Contract and Proposal Manager at DRS Technologies, an electronics manufacturing corporation (formerly TAMSCO Manufacturing) in Polson. Prior to and concurrent with his time with DRS Technologies, Winegart was a U.S. Navy Supply Officer, with nine years active duty and 11 years reserve service. As a Supply Officer, Winegart had extensive experience leading men and women in areas such as logistics, financial management, supply support, transportation services, and food service. Winegart is a member of the Montana Economic Developers Association, and also serves on the board of the Lake County Youth Home in Ronan. Winegart received a bachelor of science degree in finance from Brigham Young University, with a minor in accounting/economics.
