Sharon Kaye Bowman Dorr

LEWISTOWN — Sharon Kaye Bowman Dorr went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016. She passed away from an upper respiratory illness.

Sharon was born Dec. 28, 1943, to Myrtle C. and Eva Bowman. She graduated from Ronan High School in 1962. She also attended St Patrick School of Nursing in Missoula. Sharon married Terrill Dorr in December 1966. A son, Shane, was born in 1967 and died shortly after birth. Her second child, a daughter, Heather was born in 1972. Her third child, a son, Casey, was born in 1977.

Sharon struggled with mental illness, paranoid schizophrenia, most of her adult life. She was divorced in 1986 and moved to Polson. She lived a short time in Missoula before residing and spending her final 12 years in Lewistown, at the Montana Mental Health Nursing Care Center.

Sharon attended services at the United Methodist Church in Ronan and in Polson throughout her life and was a member of the MYF group during high school. Sharon held various jobs: working in the potatoes, cleaning a hotel, selling Avon, and cleaning at the facility where she lived. During her more stable times she enjoyed piano playing, singing, crafts, handwork, quilting, bowling, playing games, drawing, reading, and crossword and jigsaw puzzles. During her stay in Lewistown, she enjoyed helping the activities staff with the activity calendar, making crafts to enter into the local fair, knitting hats for newborns and scarfs and hats for anyone who wanted them. She loved taking drives through the countryside and spending time in nature. A favorite stop was the Dash Inn drive-thru for a vanilla shake or cone.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Shane Dorr; and her brother, Merton A. Bowman. Sharon is survived by daughter, Heather (Tim) Boyd of Salem, Oregon; Casey (Alyson) Dorr and two granddaughters, Elaina and Evie Dorr of Columbia Falls, Montana; sister, Donna Smith; brother, Gary (Kaye) Bowman; sister-in-law, Sherron Bowman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service and laying Sharon’s ashes to rest at the Ronan Cemetery will be held during the summer of 2017. Sharon’s family and friends can share condolences and memories at www.creelfuneralhome.com.
