Maidens roll over Lady Pirates

POLSON – With area prep teams on Christmas break, the currently undefeated Ronan Maidens are deserving of a rest.

“This was our fourth game in five days,” Maidens’ head coach Ron Hanson said. “We played like we were a bit tired.”

The Maidens (7-0) outlasted their county rival Lady Pirates 64-50.

At the 2:56 mark in the first quarter the visiting Maidens were down by two to the Lady Pirates. By quarters end, the teams were in a 14-14 deadlock.

“Polson played extremely hard and I give them a lot of credit,” coach Hanson said.

In the second quarter, the Maidens went on a 19-8 scoring run to put the game out of reach.

Ronan’s Lee Camel scored a game high 23 points.

Two Maidens posted double- doubles. Micalann Mc- Crea grabbed 10 rebounds on 15 points, while Alicia Camel snagged 14 rebounds and scored 16 points.

Mollie Fisher and Kaelyn Smith scored 16 points apiece for the Lady Pirates. On Monday, Dec. 19 the Maidens hosted the Loyola Breakers in a District 6-B battle.

Alicia Camel scored 27 points for the Maidens in the 65-39 victory over the Breakers.

After the Christmas break both teams will hit the road. Ronan will travel to Deer Lodge Jan. 3 and on Jan. 5 Polson heads south to Stevensville.

HOT SPRINGS – The Lady Bulldogs lost to the hosting Lady Savage Heat 43-37 Dec. 20.

Only down by one point going into the half 26-25, the Lady Bulldogs could not keep pace with Hot Springs and only scored 12 points during the whole second half.

Karly Lawson of the Lady Savage Heat led all scorers with 16 points.

Karolyna Buck had a team-high 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs.

Two Eagle River

PABLO – The Lady Eagles were held scoreless in the first quarter as the visiting Victor Lady Pirates went on to win 39 -18. Whisper Michaels netted five points to lead the Eagles.

ARLEE – In District 14-C action Dec. 20, the Scarlets corralled visiting Plains Trotters 40-30. Scarlets’ Carly Hergett finished the evening with a game high 17 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.
