Pirates take third at Ronan’s speech, debate meet

RONAN — At the Jan. 14 meet in Ronan, the Pirates mustered a team finish of third place.
Individual placing include Sophia Speckert, first place, Lincoln Douglas Debate; Annabelle Smith and Katelyn Toland, fourth in public forum; and Geneva des Lions, eighth in impromptu and third in memorized public address.
Freshmen Taylor Owens and Taylor Bloomfield both earned first place in individual rounds.
“It was the best meet of the year so far,” coach Robert DiGiallonardo said.
At the Corvallis meet on Jan. 6-7, the Pirates did not place as a team but Annabelle Smith and Katelyn Toland took fourth place in public forum and Geneva des Lions earned third place in impromptu.
