Vikings hold off Eagles, 59-54

Charlo

PABLO –Tyson Petticrew scored 20 points and the Vikings squeaked by the hosting Eagles 59-54 on Friday night.

“The game was hard fought by both teams,” Vikings Head Coach Gale Decker said. “It was much closer than when we played at Charlo.”

Zach Mathias led the Eagles with a game-high 22 points and Chasen Curley added another 12. For the Vikings, Toby Odom scored 15 points and Landers Smith booked a double-double. Smith scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.

On Saturday, Garett Vaughan scored a game-high 14 points as the Vikings nabbed a 48-40 District 14-C road win against Noxon.

The Vikings are on the road at Darby on Friday and will host Philipsburg on Saturday.

FLORENCE – Elijah Cahoon scored a game-high 19 points for the Bulldogs, but it wasn’t enough to get by the hosting Falcons and Mission fell 51-40 on Thursday night.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs used a 20-8 run in the first quarter to notch their second win of the season 60-52 over the visiting Eureka Lions.

Once again, Cahoon scored a game-high 19 points and Wacey McClure added 10 more for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs are on the road Thursday at Anaconda and host Stillwater Christian on Saturday.

Arlee

PLAINS – Phillip Malatare led three Warriors in double figures with 29 points and helped Arlee avenge its only loss of the season by defeating hosting Plains 81-59 on Friday in District 14-C action.

Tyler Tanner scored 24 points and Will Mesteth added 22 more for the Warriors.

On Saturday, Arlee won by forfeit against St. Regis.

The Warriors will return to the court on Friday at Noxon.

STEVENSVILLE – On the road, the Pirates slipped by the Stevensville Yellowjackets 57-52 on Jan. 24.

On Friday, Matthew Rensvold scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Pirates in a 74-35 rout of the visiting Frenchtown Broncs.

The Pirates will be on the road at Eureka on Thursday and at Columbia Falls on Saturday.

RONAN – The Chiefs got eight rebounds and a team-high 14 points from Anthony Camel in a 59-56 loss to the visiting Loyola Rams on Jan. 24.

Jackson Duffey, Kobe Morigeau and Josh Stewart all scored 10 points apiece for the Chiefs.

On Saturday, the Chiefs fell to the visiting Libby Loggers 50-29.

Morigeau led the way for the Chiefs with nine points.

The 7-7 Chiefs will be on the road at Deer Lodge on Thursday and return home to host Troy on Friday and Anaconda Tuesday.

DARBY – Chasen Curley led four Eagles in double figures with a game-high 23 points as the hosting Darby Tigers slipped past the Eagles 76-68.

Issaiah Mathias scored 14 points, Josiah Nichols chipped in 12 points and Zach Mathias added 11 more for the 3-10 Eagles.
