HAMILTON – On Saturday night, the Pirates fell to the undefeated Dillion Beavers 50-34 in the championship game of the Western A Divisional Tournament.
The Beavers outscored the Pirates 13-5 in the first quarter and led the Pirates 26-15 at the half.
The Pirates had a small scoring surge in the third but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 11-point deficit from the first half.
Pirates’ Matthew Rensvold scored a team-high of 17 points.
The Pirates were able to advance to the championship game by outscoring Corvallis 65-47 on Wednesday and beating Butte Central 58-47 on Friday.
Against Corvallis, Rensvold had a game-high of 22 points, while Tanner Wilson scored a game-high of 18 points against Butte Central.
The Pirates will head to Butte on March 9-11 to compete in the State Class A Championship Tournament.
For the Lady Pirates, the season came to a close on Thursday after falling to Whitefish in a close battle 28-26 and losing the night before to Butte Central 58-19.
The Lady Pirates finished the 2016-2017 season with a 4-16 record.
