Credit Union CEO earns national leadership award Montana’s Credit Unions is pleased to announce that President and CEO Tracie Kenyon was recently presented with the Eugene H. Farley League Leadership Award in recognition of her outstanding efforts in the credit union industry and as a league manager. Kenyon was presented with the award on Feb. 27 while in attendance at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, DC. The Farley League Leadership Award was established in 2001 to recognize the outstanding efforts of a current league management or staff person and is presented each year at the conference.

“I am so humbled to have my name added to the list of exemplary league presidents who’ve received this award in years past,” Kenyon said. “It is a sincere honor to be recognized by my peers. I have been blessed to impact the credit union movement. Our overriding philosophy is to focus on people over profits, with critical tenets of financial education, social mission, and collaboration guiding our decision-making.”

Kenyon, who has spent more than 30 years working in the credit union movement, was recognized for her demonstrated visionary leadership at the state and federal level, advancing the strategic legislative interests of credit unions through superior governmental relations.

Kenyon created a statewide, nonprofit organization that works with credit unions to improve the social and economic well-being of all. Programs developed in this community organization include the Matched Education Savings Account, free tax services and consumer and financial education programs.

Kenyon also formed The Montana Credit Union League Group Benefit Trust in 2007, as a cooperative endeavor by the membership of the Montana’s Credit Unions. The Trust provides partially self-funded health insurance for medical, dental, and vision, an EAP, and the Healthy You! Wellness Program.

Kenyon believes strongly in the cooperative spirit of credit unions. This is demonstrated in her work as President of Montana’s Credit Unions, an organization that exists to promote and enhance a thriving credit union community in Montana. Having repeatedly taken on industry challenges, serving as American Association of Credit Union Leagues Chair during one of the most difficult and tumultuous times in recent memory, Kenyon has helped chart the course for the future of the CUNA-League system.
