POLSON – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office will host a no-cost citizens’ academy starting Thursday, April 20, and there are still some seats available. The program runs for seven weeks on Thursday evenings with an optional range-day on a Saturday. Citizens are exposed to all facets of sheriff’s office duties in this course taught by sheriff’s office personnel based on their areas of expertise.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office philosophy of community-oriented policing seeks to create a partnership with citizens to develop a sense of cooperation with law enforcement in the common goal of providing a safe and secure community for all citizens. The citizens’ academy is a program developed from the community-oriented policing philosophy.  Persons interested in partnering with the sheriff’s office to keep Lake County the unique and safe place it is and can continue to be, are encouraged to apply.
