Myrna Louise DuCharme

POLSON — Myrna Louise DuCharme Johnson, 73, of Polson returned home to her heavenly Father on April 27, 2017, after a long courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Myrna was born in Polson to Basil and Vivian DuCharme on Nov. 28, 1943. She grew up in a large family with eleven brothers and sisters at the foot of the Mission Mountains and on the shores of Flathead Lake. From a young age Myrna enjoyed the outdoors and all its beauty. Hiking, fishing, skiing, spending time gardening and caring for her flowers and plants were some of her favorite pastimes.

She married her love, Arthur R. Johnson, on April 26, 1963, and together they brought five precious children into the world. As their family grew they moved around the country exploring, building a business, living adventures and creating memories and stories to pass on to the next generation. Myrna was an intelligent and accomplished business woman who spent many years working for the BIA and CS&K Tribes.

Along with being a loving and caring mother, who spent her life teaching her children and grandchildren about God, she was also a natural caretaker. Myrna gave her whole self to various causes and charities including the Montecahto Woman’s Club, Soup’s On Kitchen and the Catholic Church. She spent many years nursing and caring for loved ones selflessly to give them comfort in their final times on earth. She was very proud to be a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and passed on her strong Native American history and heritage to her family.

She was always full of wise words, advise, strength and prayer. She devoted her life to her family and friends, but above all God. Her faith in the Lord gave her strength throughout her entire life. During the many times of hardship and heartache Myrna was a true Matriarch and leader to her family.

She was always there for everyone no matter the circumstances and was the glue that held tight to them all. She will be missed dearly and treasured forever in the hearts of those who knew her and they all celebrate in the fact that she now has her eternal peace and comfort.

Myrna’s siblings, Nadine and Gary and her beloved children, Lance and Tracey and sweet granddaughter, Ru precede her in death. Her children, Deby (Steve), Keith and Jerrod (Cameron); her 16 grandchildren; her 15 great-grandchildren, and her large extended family and countless friends survive her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to the Soup’s On Kitchen of Polson, 101 Seventh Ave. W, Polson, MT 59860, or to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, PO Box 1477, Polson, MT 59860.
