RONAN – Ronan High School seniors Jenaya Burns and Rhylee Burland were each selected to receive a $1,000 K. William Harvey Memorial Scholarship for 2017.
K. William Harvey was Superintendent of Ronan School District No. 30 from 1968 to 1982. Jay W. Preston Sr., owner of Access Montana, (Ronan Telephone Company), served on the school board during part of Mr. Harvey’s time as Superintendent. After Mr. Harvey died, Access Montana established this scholarship in his honor in 1989. A scholarship has been awarded every year for the last 26 years by Mrs. Betty Harvey and a representative of Access Montana. This year two recipients were chosen.
“Jenaya Burns’ and Rhylee Burland’s applications and goals for the future are very impressive,” Scholarship Administrator Judy Preston said. “We wish them both the best in their education and careers.”
This fall, Rhylee plans to attend Eastern Washington University in Spokane, and Jenaya plans to attend Montana State University in Bozeman.
The scholarships will be awarded to both recipients after the successful completion of their first semester of college.
