LIBBY – Both the Mission-Arlee-Charlo (MAC) Bulldogs and Ronan Maidens softball teams made their way up to Libby for the two-day Western B/C Softball Divisional Championship Tournament which started on Friday.

MAC’s pitching staff had a strong outing in their first game on Friday, allowing Eureka only three hits in the 10-0 shutout.

Summer DarcAngelo hit 2-for-2 with a RBI and Ran’Dee Charlo went 1-2 with a double and three RBIs.

In game two, MAC narrowly lost to the eventual division champs Libby 3-2. Libby held MAC to just two runs on five hits. Frankie Smith led MAC at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

It took MAC extra innings on Saturday, to put away Anaconda 6-4. Azia Rain Umphrey had the hot bat going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs. The win clinched a spot in the state tournament and avenged a 5-3 regular season loss to Anaconda earlier in the week.

Loyola held MAC to just five hits, shutting them out 3-0 for third place. Both Umphrey and Sierra Hutchins batted 2-for-3 in that game.

MAC battles the No. 1 seed out of the east Glasgow/Nashua on Thursday to start the State Class B/C Softball Tournament in Frenchtown.

Before heading to the divisional tournament, the Maidens wrapped up their regular season on a positive note by pummeling Troy 22-8 on May 14.

During the tournament on Friday, the Maidens fell to Florence 22-7 and in the loser out game, Anaconda slipped past Ronan 9-5.

Regan Clairmont finished 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI and Madison Clairmont went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the Florence game.

Marissa Mock hit 3-for-4 and Lanissa Mahkuk went 2-for-3 in the Anaconda game, both had a triple and two RBIs.

Maidens finished their season with a 4-20 overall record.
