CHARLO – Sixteen Charlo High School graduates were encouraged to “get out of Charlo” and explore the world on Sunday, May 28.

Guest speaker Jared Miller, who grew up in Gildford west of Havre and teaches fourth grade at Charlo Elementary, said he was “gone for 15 years” but considers those some of the best years of his life.

“I learned I love coaching and skiing,” he said. “I’ve seen a lot of countries and continents.”

Miller said when he’s not on vacation he’s thinking about where he will go next time.

“Don’t get stuck in a rut: work, work, work,” he said. “Work so you can live your life.”

Miller encouraged the graduates to “know as many people as possible. It’s not what you know, it’s who you know. I got my first job because of who I knew.”

Other speakers included valedictorian Cheyenne Nagy and salutatorian Ashley Shenyer.

Nagy told her fellow graduates to not let any mistakes they make discourage them from living their dreams.
