POLSON – With the high school football season a mere month away, more than 50 middle school and high school athletes took advantage of an opportunity to improve their gridiron skills on Thursday during the first annual Uptop/Colt Anderson Skills Camp.

Throughout the two-day non-contact camp, aspiring football players from the Mission Valley and as far away as Missoula and Whitefish gained valuable hands-on instruction on the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on techniques that will improve footwork, speed, and agility.

“I really enjoyed the work ethic and effort the kids put in,” said Colt Anderson. He is a former Montana Griz and current Buffalo Bills’ safety.

The coaching staff that Anderson assembled is one of the big draws to the camp. Each one of his coaches has or has had a career in the NFL. They also played high school football in Montana and played for the Montana Griz. Joining Anderson in the camp is LA Ram Chase Reynolds, Green Bay Packer Jordan Tripp, San Francisco 49er Brock Coyle and former Tennessee Titan Marc Mariani.

“I was really excited to see that Colt was putting this thing on,” San Francisco 49ers’ linebacker Brock Coyle said. “We grew up just like these kids did. We wanted to show these kids with hard work and determination you could accomplish your dreams and you could do it from the state of Montana.”

Former Tennessee Titans wide receiver Marc Mariani agreed with Coyle, “I was in these kid’s same shoes, y’know, wanting to work hard and wanting to get better. I have had a lot of people help me along the way, so I wanted to give back and do the same for these kids.”
