Editor,

Here at Lake County Council on Aging, our public transportation program provides transportation to people of all ages in Lake County. Most of our clients are elderly or disabled and use the transportation program to go to health care appointments as far as Missoula and Kalispell. These include crucial appointments such as surgery and dialysis.

In the past couple of months, we have had the tires on our wheelchair van stabbed and on a separate occasion a window broken out of one of the other vehicles. The vandals have not been caught but I want them to understand how their actions affect our community.

These senseless acts of vandalism cost our clients their health when they must wait to get the health care they need. It costs our organization time and money. It costs our community other services that we could have used that time and money to provide. Our other programs are designed to help our seniors live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives in their homes and communities. To learn more about our programs please go to www.Lake- CountyCOA.org or call 676-2367.

A special thank you to Les Schwab and Ronan Auto Body for repairing our vehicles so quickly and to the Ronan Police Department who has started extra patrols around our building. To our community, we want to ensure you that we are taking additional safety measures to avoid further vandalism occurrences.

Dara Rodda
Executive Director Lake County Council on Aging
